Hey y'all! My name is A'Sarah Green and I am the I.T. Network Manager for our library. I am responsible for maintaining and optimizing the library's network infrastructure to ensure seamless access to digital resources and online databases for both staff and patrons. My role involves troubleshooting network issues, implementing security measures to protect sensitive information, and upgrading hardware and software to keep the systems up to date. I collaborate closely with all departments to understand their technological needs and provide solutions that enhanced productivity and user experience. Additionally, I conduct training sessions for staff to improve their technical skills and ensure they could effectively use the library's digital tools. This experience not only honed my technical abilities but also developed my problem-solving and communication skills. Looking ahead, the future of I.T. in libraries is poised for exciting advancements. With the increasing integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning, I anticipate developing and managing more sophisticated systems that can provide personalized user experiences and predictive maintenance for network infrastructure. Furthermore, the rise of digital and remote learning will demand robust, secure, and scalable networks, making the role of an I.T. Network Manager even more critical. My goal is to continue innovating and adapting to these emerging technologies to support the library's mission of providing accessible and cutting-edge resources to the community. Learn to Crochet Thursdays, September 5th, October 3rd and November 7th, 2024 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM Crochet is a 16th-century yarn craft that is perfect for cool weather. Crochet has been shown to have many benefits, from increasing dopamine and lowering depression to combating stress and insomnia. This program will teach participants how to create a "Granny Square," one of the basic patterns in crocheting, and some variations on that pattern. This program will provide patrons with hooks and yarn, but feel free to bring a hook or yarn you're comfortable with. Second Saturday Stanzas Saturday, September 14th, October 12th and November 9th, 2024 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM Welcome to East Cleveland Public Library's poetry reading and open mic! September 14th - September's featured reader is Sandra Rivers-Gill. Rivers-Gill teaching artist. Her poetry is informed by family, community, and injustices, appearing in print journals, online and in anthologies while garnering numerous awards, including a nomination for Best of the Net. She resides in Toledo, Ohio, with her devoted husband, where she writes and is a caregiver, prayer, scrap art maker, poetry shopper, and when time allows, a performer in film or commercials. She is author of As We Cover Ourselves With Light, her first poetry collection. October 12th - October's featured reader is Kisha Nicole Foster. Kisha Nicole Foster lives in Cleveland and is the recipient of the 2019 Cleveland Arts Prize for Emerging Artist in Literature. Foster holds her Masters of Fine arts in Poetry from The University of Nebraska-Omaha, and is an alumnus of Cleveland State University (B.A English). Kisha has conducted over 400 national poetry workshops and has represented Cleveland several times nationally, competing at National Poetry Slam 2003, Individual World Poetry Slam 2008, and Women of the World 2009. The Poets and Writers League of Greater Cleveland awarded Kisha one of the Top 25 Writers of Greater Cleveland in 2006. She is the author of 2 books: Poems: 1999-2014 and Bloodwork and is mother to her 5 year old daughter, named Love. Her work has appeared in Black in the Middle - An Anthology of the Black Midwest. Her spoken word album BLK Earth: SPK Poems can be listened to on Bandcamp. November 9th - November's featured reader is Zuggie Tate. Zuggie Tate (she/they) is a Black, larger-bodied, trans feminine individual who lives with HIV. She has lived in Cleveland her whole life and attended college at Case Western Reserve University. She considers herself to be an artist in many genres, but her favorite outlet is definitely poetry. To date, she has been published in the Black Midwest Anthology and was a recipient of the Baldwin House Writing Fellowship with Twelve Literary Arts. She also has a strong background in poetry performance and spoken word. Adults Director’s Office Book Discussion Coming in the month of October The thesis of Woodson's book is that Black people of his day were being culturally indoctrinated, rather than taught, in American schools. This conditioning, he claims, causes Black people to become dependent and to seek out inferior places in the greater society of which they are a part. He challenges his readers to become autodidacts and to "do for themselves", regardless of what they were taught

12 Downloading and Uploading Saturday, October 19th, 2024 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM This class covers the basics of downloading and uploading files along with using a flash drive. Upload and download both refer to the process of transferring a file. When a file is transferred, a copy is created in the location chosen. Upload means to transfer one or multiple files from your own computer to another computer. Download means to transfer a file from another computer to your own. Streaming Services and Smart TVs Thursday, November 5th and 18th, 2024 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM We’ll be giving an overview of popular streaming services like Netflix, Hulu or Disney+. Creating Visual Poetry Thursdays, November 14th & 21st, 2024 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM November is National Writing Month! this two-part program will focus on writing your own short poem and creating video visuals to accompany it. We’ll show you websites that have designs and different items you can make using a 3D printer. Technology Movie Showing - Origin Origin is a 2021 and 2022 American biographical drama film written and directed by Ava DuVernay. It is based on the life of Isabel Wilkerson, played by Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, as she writes the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. Over the course of the film, Wilkerson travels throughout Germany, India, and the United States to research the caste systems in each country's history.
